The paint mark can be viewed with the vehicle on a hoist. The chart below shows what the mark indicates. The number of teeth is stamped onto the
outside edge of the ring gear (see Figure 38).

Please refer to the Pathfinder VIN Differential chart that was sent to your dealership under separate cover when ordering differential.

YOU MUST USE THE PENNZOIL DIFFERENTIAL OIL # 4096 (P/N 020796) IF VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A LIMITED SLIP
DIFFERENTIAL.

NOTE:

A quantity of this oil was shipped to your dealer at the launch of this program.

Install a new gasket (P/N 38320-13322) and install the new differential carrier onto the rear axle housing. Torque the nuts to 54-64 N.m (40-47
ft-lbs).
