Traction Control Module: Customer Interest
Anti-Lock and Trac-Off Lights - Stay On All the Time

File In Section: 5 - Brakes

Bulletin No.: 83-50-08

Date: March, 1998

Subject:
"Anti-Lock" and "Trac Off" Lights Stay On
(Replace EBTCM)

Model:
1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Condition

Some customers may comment that the "Anti-Lock" and "Trac Off" lights stay on all the time. When the technician attempts to use the Tech 2 to
diagnose the condition, the tool cannot communicate with the vehicle.

Cause

The Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) contains a chip which may fail, causing a loss of communication. The condition was corrected
in production in mid October, 1997.

Correction

Replace the EBTCM with new Part Number 09353511, following the directions in the Service Manual, Section SE.
