Windshield Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Adhesive Kit GM P/N 12346284 or equivalent

J 24402-A Glass Sealant Remove Knife

J 38454 Windshield Removal Knife

CAUTION:

If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause injuries. To help avoid
personal injury, cover the defroster outlets before replacing windows.

When replacing stationary windows, Urethane Adhesive Kit GM P/N 12346284, or a urethane adhesive system meeting GM
Specification GM365lM, must be used to maintain original installation integrity. Failure to use the urethane adhesive kit will result in
poor retention of the window which may allow unrestrained occupants to be ejected from the vehicle resulting in personal injury.

When working with any type of glass, use approved safety glasses and gloves to reduce the chance of personal injury.

Failure to prep area prior to the application of primer may cause insufficient bonding of urethane adhesive. Insufficient bonding of
urethane adhesive may allow unrestrained occupants to be ejected from the vehicle resulting in personal injury.

At least 24 hours are required for complete curing of repair material The repair area should not be physically disturbed until after
that time. Insufficient curing of urethane adhesive may allow unrestrained occupants to be ejected from the vehicle resulting in
personal injury.
Windshield Replacement: Removal Procedure
1. Remove the windshield wipers arms and blades.
2. Remove the air inlet grille.
3. Mask off the area around the windshield to protect painted surfaces and the headliner, and as an aid in cleanup after windshield installation.
4. Cover the defroster openings.
5. Remove the windshield reveal molding.
6. Remove the rearview mirror.
7. Using a razor or utility knife make a preliminary cut around the perimeter of the windshield. Cut as close to the edge of the windshield as
possible.
