1.
Lubricate piston seal, piston, caliper bore and dust boot with new brake fluid.
2.
Roll piston seal into seal groove in caliper bore, ensuring seal is fully seated and not twisted.
3.
Install dust boot over piston, ensuring lip of boot engages piston groove.
4.
Install piston in caliper bore, press piston to bottom of bore, then seat boot in caliper counterbore with suitable driver.
5.
Install bleeder screw and torque to 110 inch lbs.
6.
Install new bushings and dust seals in caliper bracket, Fig. 1, and lubricate sliding surfaces on bracket with suitable brake grease.
Rear
1.
Lubricate piston seal, piston, caliper bore and dust boot with new brake fluid.
2.
Roll piston seal into seal groove in caliper bore, ensuring seal is fully seated and not twisted.
3.
Lubricate piston locator with new brake fluid, then position locator on piston using J135588-1 and J135588-2, with grayish side facing caliper
housing.
4.
Install thrust washer and lubricated seal on actuator screw, then install screw in piston.
5.
Install balance spring in piston recess in housing.
6.
Install piston assembly, pressing piston in until locator is past snap ring groove, then install snap ring.
7.
Install lubricated dust boot over piston with inside lip in groove in piston and fold toward end of piston that contacts brake shoe, then bottom
piston in caliper bore.
8.
Install anti-friction washer and seal over end of actuator screw, ensuring seal bead is against caliper housing.
9.
Install parking brake lever over actuator screw, rotate lever away from stop, hold lever and torque retaining nut to 35 ft. lbs., then rotate lever
back to stop.
10.
Seat dust boot in caliper counterbore using suitable driver.
