BULLETIN NO. 410
DATE:
MARCH, 1991
SUBJECT:
POSITIVE LOCATING OF ENGINE OIL COOLER
MODELS:
405 Mi16 VEHICLES
Beginning with October, 1990 production, the engine oil ccoler (1) is now fitted with a locating fork which engages a tab (3) cast into the engine block.
This new fitting improves the retention of the engine oil cooler during removal of the oil filter.
REPAIR:
When replacing an engine oil cooler, it is necessary to observe the following:
On earlier model vehicles (without the tab cast into the engine block), position the cooler (1) as shown above (rotate approximately 30 degrees clockwise
from straight up)
Make sure there is no interference between the engine oil cooler, detonation sensor, PCV hose, etc.
On all models, be sure to fully degrease the oil filter adapter threads (2) and coat with Loctite before installing
Torque adapter to 6.0 mdaN (44 ft.lbs.)
