5. Tighten right side engine splash shield.
6. Right front wheel and tire. 
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Return pipe to reservoir hose and clamp.
9. High pressure pipe to pump.

10. Accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in ENGINE MECHANICAL.
11. Fill system. Refer to CHECKING AND ADDING FLUID. See: Service and Repair

Important:  Bleed power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM. See: Service and Repair

Inspect

-

For leaks. Refer to STEERING TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES.

Cooler to Return Pipe Hose

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Raise and suitably support vehicle. Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING.
2. Right front wheel and tire. 
3. Loosen right side engine splash shield. 
4. Exhaust pipe and catalytic converter.
5. Right tie rod nut and tie rod from steering knuckle. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
6. Remove hose clamps retaining the hose.
7. Hose.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Return hose and clamps.
2. Tie rod and nut to steering knuckle. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
3. Exhaust pipe and converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT in EXHAUST SYSTEM.
4. Tighten right side engine splash shield. 
5. Right front wheel and tire. 
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Fill system. Refer to CHECKING AND ADDING FLUID. See: Service and Repair

Adjust

-

Bleed power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM. See: Service and Repair

Inspect

-

For leaks. Refer to STEERING TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES.

Cooler Pipe

J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture

-

J 28467-90 Adapters

-

J 36462 Adapter Leg

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Air cleaner and duct.
2. Install J 28467-A, J 28467-90 and J 36462.
3. Raise and suitably support vehicle. Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING.
4. Left and right wheel and tires.

CAUTION:  Failure to disconnect intermediate shaft from power steering gear stub shaft can Result in damage to steering gear and/or
intermediate shaft. This damage can cause loss of steering control which could result in personal injury.

NOTICE:  Set steering shaft so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the coil.

5. Intermediate steering shaft lower bolt. 
6. Loosen right side engine splash shield. 
7. Both left and right side tie rod nuts and tie rods, from steering knuckle. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
8. Engine and transaxle mount nuts at frame. 
9. Power steering cooler line from retaining clips.

10. Support rear frame, using jack stands.

NOTICE:  Do not lower rear of frame too far as damage to engine components nearest to the cowl may result.
