Front Crankshaft Seal: Overhaul

Removing and installing crankshaft sealing ring - belt pulley side

Preliminary work for crankshaft sealing ring - belt pulley side

1. Remove air cleaner housing.
2. Release drive belt.
3. Remove belt pulley or vibration damper.

1. Make a 3-mm hole at the front of the sealing ring using an angle drill. Grease the drill in order to bind the chips caused by drilling. Screw a

sheetmetal screw with a washer approx. 5 mm into the bore hole.

Boring the sealing ring

Caution
Risk of damage due to particles of dirt.

Risk of engine damage.

-> Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the engine.

2. Position a lever tool on the sheetmetal screw, place a wooden wedge between the lever tool and the crankcase and lever out the sealing ring.

Carefully remove any residual dirt on the crankshaft flange.
