Seat Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair
Front Seat Belts W/Detonated Tensioner

WARNING:  If the belt tensioner is not detonated it should be scrapped.

Removal    

1. With the ignition off, remove the negative battery lead.
2. Push the seat as far forward as possible.
3. Unfasten the scuff plates in the rear and front doors (secured with clips).
4. Remove the door seals around the B pillar.
5. Undo the seat belt fastener in the front seat by pressing the clip with a bent screwdriver, see the illustration with dimensions.
6. Remove the air vent grille (snap fasteners).
7. Remove the upper, inner pillar trim (secured with snap fasteners) by gripping the top edge of the trim and carefully pulling down the trim while

carefully bending the fasteners with a screwdriver.

8. Thread the seat belt out through the hole in the trim.
9. Unfasten the lower section of the pillar trim (secured with clips).
