Selector lever handle and gear operation mechanism cover: removing and installing

Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Hose clamp -T20072A-, see equivalent → Anchor

Lever -U 30800-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing

–	First extract the button on the knob until a “click” is heard. The button is now engaged and a small eyelet is visible between the knob and the button.

Note

Do not in any event extract the button further, as this will damage the selector lever handle.

–	Fasten the button in this position with insulation tape to prevent it from accidentally falling back when the knob is removed.

–	Detach the upper cover-arrows- carefully, using the lever -U 30800- .

–	Disconnect the connector -A- for the printed circuit board of the cover and cut the plate clamp -arrow- fastening the knob to the selector rod.

–	Remove the knob unit by pulling the unit upwards.

Fitting the selector lever cover and handle

Caution

The knob will break if you try to fit it while the button is pushed in.

–	Before assembly, check that the button is not pushed in. If this is the case, hold the knob in the assembly position and carefully extract the button until a “click” is heard. The button is now engaged and a small eyelet is visible between the knob and the button.

–	Fasten the button in this position with insulation tape to prevent it from accidentally falling back when the knob is fitted.

–	Fit a new metal clamp with the metal sleeve on the knob.

–	Fit the knob onto the lever as far as possible.

–	Close the metal clamp with the pressure tool -T20072A-.

–	Insert the connector of the printed circuit board for the lever cover.

–	Fit the upper gear lever cover .
