Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor

Adjust the selector lever cable when:
t  gearbox is removed,
t  removing and fitting the engine and/or gearbox,
t  the cable or the gearbox operation mechanism is removed and fitted
t  the position of the engine and the gearbox is modified, for example when mounted without tensions.
Adjustment:
–  Put the gear selector lever into position “P”.

–  Undo bolt -2- on selector cable -1-.
–  Gently move the selector knob forwards and backwards but without removing the lever from position “P”.
This allows the core of the cable to find its optimum position.
–  Set the gear selector rod -3- to “P” (press rod backwards).
  Note
To ensure that the gear is still in position “P” (parking lock connected), raise the vehicle. The front wheels should not be able to turn together in the same direction.
–  Tighten the bolt -2- to a torque of 15 Nm.
