The gear selection lever is in position “P” and the ignition is on:
l  Brake pedal released
The gear selection lever is secured and cannot move from “P”position. The electromagnet for locking the selector lever.
l  Brake pedal depressed
The electromagnet for locking the selector lever releases the lever. A gear can be selected.
The gear selection lever is in position “N” and the ignition is on:
l  Brake pedal released
The gear selection lever is secured and cannot move from “N”position. The electromagnet for locking the selector lever locks it.
l  Brake pedal depressed
The electromagnet for locking the selector lever releases the lever. A gear can be selected.
t  In the following gear selection positions “1”, “2”, “3”, “D” and “R” the starter motor should not function
t  At speeds of more than 5 km/h and changing the selector lever to “N”, the selector lever locking electromagnet should not lock the lever. The selector lever can be placed in a different range.
t  At speeds of less than 5 km/h (almost stationary) and changing the selector lever to “N”, the selector lever locking electromagnet should lock the lever after approx. 1 second. The selector lever can only be moved from “N” when the brake pedal is depressed.
