  WARNING
t  Observe the safety precautions for working on airbags → Chapter.
t  Before handling airbag units (for example to attach the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for example by briefly grasping hold of door striker plate.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Clamp the seat in the bracket for the seat repair -T20172/5-.
–  Remove the upper frame cover from the seat pan.
   
–  Disengage the fastening strip -1- of the footwell cover -2- from the holders -4- (2x) of the trim on the tunnel side -3-.

–  Remove spreader rivets -1- (2x).
–  Lift off trim (tunnel end) -2-.
