Dismantle the storage compartment.
–  Removing storage compartment → Chapter
Removing trim
   
–  Using the disassembly tool -3409-, remove the trim -1- from the retainer tabs -arrow- (4x) of the lower area -2-.
Removing handle with locking mechanism
–  Remove decorative trim → Anchor.

–  Pull the shaft -1- out of lower area -3-.
–  Detach handle with locking mechanism -4-, torsion spring -2- and shaft -1-.
Remove cover
  Note
t  The cover is fitted to the lower area without using any additional fasteners.
t  For displaying reasons, neither the trim nor the handle with locking mechanism are shown in the illustration.
–  Open storage compartment.

–  Pull the cover -1- out of lower area -2-.
Separate the lower area from the outer section
–  Open storage compartment.

–  Press the lugs -2- (2x) upwards in direction of -arrow A-.
–  Fold down the lower area -1- in the -direction of arrow B-.

–  Remove the outer section -1-along the guide -arrow- of the lower area -2-.
Assembling storage compartment
Assemble in reverse order. The following must be taken into account:

–  Hang in the torsion spring -1- so that the shorter end -arrow A- rests on the lower area -2- and that its longer end -arrow B- rests on the handle -3-.
