  Note!
Lubricate the points and the contact surfaces with grease, ref. number -G 052 142 A2-.
1 - Selector lever knob
q   Take note of the different versions
2 - 1.5 Nm Allen screw
3 - Cover
4 - Cover strip
q   Fit on the cover → Item
5 - Sleeve trim
6 - Safety washer
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Selector lever
q   Separating and fitting → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Fit the cable to the selector lever casing → Chapter
8 - Gasket
9 - Selector lever casing
q   This must not be removed to replace the selector lever cable or the individual components of the gear drive mechanism
q   Removing → Fig.
10 - Combi bolt, 25 Nm
q   4 units
11 - 15 Nm
q   3 units
q   To secure the selector lever to its casing
q   Renew
12 - Spacer
13 - Plastic nut
q   To fit the center console
14 - Sleeve
q   Fit it on the selector lever casing before fitting the selector lever cable → Fig.

q   Do not bend or twist. Before fitting, grease the eye and the cable ends slightly
q   Separating and fitting → Chapter
q   Checking and adjusting → Chapter
16 - Gearbox
17 - Rod
q   For selector lever shaft
18 - Washer
19 - 25 Nm
20 - Safety washer
q   For the selector lever cable
q   Always renew
21 - Console
q   With countersupport for the selector lever cable

   
Separate the protective cover
–  Remove the selector lever knob → Chapter.
–  Remove the sleeve trim.
–  Remove the selector lever cover.
–  Unscrew the central console securing bolts.
–  Dismounting the center console: → Bodywork, interior mounting work; Rep. Gr.68
–  Disconnect the connector for the selector lever lock electro magnet.
–  Remove the front part of the exhaust assembly with catalytic converter: → Rep.-Gr. 26.
–  Remove the front and rear protection plates.
–  Unthread the nuts -arrows- from the protective cover.

Fit the cable on the selector lever
–  Turn the locking lever downwards -arrow 1-, insert the cable eye -arrow 2- into the selector lever and secure with a new safety washer.

Fitting the wiring harness to the selector lever casing
–  Fit the wiring harness to the clips and to the selector lever casing -arrows-.

–  Before fitting the selector lever cable, fit the nozzle -arrow-.
