Installation

–	Fit the guide sleeve -T10053/1- to prevent the sealing ring of the sealing flange from getting damaged.

–	Fit sealing flange and lightly tighten all bolts.

–	Tighten sealing flange securing bolts diagonally and alternately. Tightening torque: → Item.

–	Fit the oil sump.

Tightening torque → Chapter

Note

t	Observe use-by-date of sealant -D176 501 A1-.

t	After fitting, allow sealant to dry for approx. 30 minutes. Only then should the engine be refilled with oil.

–	Cut off tube nozzle at upper marking (nozzle Ø: approx. 3 mm).

–	Apply silicone sealant -D176 501 A1- to clean sealing surface of sump as shown. The strip of sealant must:

t	Run bead along inner side of bolt holes -arrows-.

Caution

Make sure lubrication system is not clogged by excess sealant.

The bead of sealant must not be thicker than specified.

l	Thickness of the sealant grub: 2 ... 3 mm

Note

t	Take particular care when applying sealant bead in area of rear sealing flange -arrows-.

t	Oil sump must be installed within 5 minutes after applying sealant.

–	Position oil sump and tighten bolts → Fig.

l	The sump must make flush contact with intermediate plate/gearbox flange.

Note

t	When installing sump with engine removed, ensure that sump is flush with crankcase at flywheel end.

t	Starting can be carried out 30 minutes after applying the sealant to the oil sump. Only then should the engine be refilled with oil.

Further assembly is performed in reverse order of removal.

Note

After fitting, allow sealant to dry for approx. 30 minutes. Only then should the engine be refilled with oil.

–	Install crankshaft sprocket. To do this, counter-hold sprocket with special tool -3415-.

Tighten crankshaft toothed belt sprocket bolt → Item.

Install toothed belt and adjust valve timing → Chapter.

–	Install poly V-belt → Chapter.

–	Replenish engine oil and check oil level → Chapter.
