Cooling system: checking for leaks > < Draining off and filling coolant|Filling
Check the radiator fanV7 and radiator fan, right sideV35
Check the radiator fan -V7- and radiator fan, right side -V35-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-
t  Current flow diagrams, electrical fault finding and fitting locations
Test prerequisites
  W00-10008
l  Basic fuses should present no problems
l  Radiator fan thermo-switch -F18-, OK.
Checking sequence
  E19-0051
–  Pull 3 pin connector off radiator fan thermo switch -F18-.
–  Bridge contact -1- and contact -2-of connector with cables of auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-. The Radiator fan -V7-and the Right hand radiator fan -V35- should start at speed 1.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Bridge contact -1- and contact -3-of connector with cables of auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-. The Radiator fan -V7-and the Right hand radiator fan -V35- should start at speed 2.
If fans do not run at 1st or 2nd speeds:
–  Use current flow diagram to locate and eliminate open circuit in wiring → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If no fault is found in wiring:
–  Replace the Coolant fan -V7- or the right coolant fan -V35-.
