  Caution
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
t  All conduits (for example for fuel, hydraulics, carbon filter, liquid cooler and cooling agent, brake fluid, low pressure) and the electric cables must be placed in such a way that they return to their original position.
t  Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
  Note
t  When the engine is hot the cooling system is under pressure. If necessary, relieve pressure before commencing repair work.
t  hose connections are secured with spring-type clips. In case of repair, only use spring-type clips.
t  For fitting spring-type clips, it is advisable to use pliers -T20029- or pliers -T20174-.
t  When installing, route coolant hoses without tension and not touching other components (note marking on coolant connection and hose).
Verifying the cooling system seal: check with the coolant system tester -SAT 1274-, adapter -VAG 1274/8- and adapter -VAG 1274/9- → Chapter.
