Cooling system: checking for leaks
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Cooling system tester -SAT 1274-
t  Adapter -VAG 1274/8-
t  Adapter -VAG 1274/9-

Test condition
l  Engine must be warm.
Checking sequence
  DANGER!
Hot vapour/hot coolant may escape when opening expansion tank. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully.
–  Open cap on coolant expansion tank.
–  Insert the coolant system tester -SAT 1274- with the adapter -VAG 1274/8- into the expansion tank.
–  Use hand pump on tester -SAT 1274- to create a pressure of approx. 1 bar.
If the pressure drops:
–  Locate the leak and rectify the fault.
