Replacing engine control unit > < Test conditions

Test sequence
Test sequence
–  Remove the wiper arms and the cowl panel:
→ Electrical system; Rep. Gr.92
   
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to control unit wiring harness.
–  Bridge sockets 33+1 with auxiliary cables from -V.A.G 1594-.
–  Measure voltage between following sockets: 1+2, 1+28, 2+27 and 27+28 Specification: approx. battery voltage
If the specification is not attained:
–  Check relay for terminal 30 -J317- voltage supply: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Check wiring connections for open circuit, short circuit and transfer resistance at contacts according to current flow diagram.
If no fault is found in wiring and relay:
–  Renew engine control unit → Chapter.
