Servicing fuel filter > < Removing and installing parts of fuel supply system

Removing and installing fuel tank with its attachments
1 - Sealing cap
q   Renew seal if damaged
2 - Securing screw
3 - Tank flap unit
q   With rubber cup
4 - Gravity/overflow valve
q   To remove valve unclip upwards out of support
q   Check valve for through-flow valve vertical: open, valve tilted 45 °: closed
5 - O-Ring
q   Renew
6 - Earth connection
q   Check securely seated
7 - Connector
q   For fuel gauge sender
8 - Union nut
q   Remove and install with spanner -U-40055-
9 - Fuel gauge sender
q   Note fitting position on fuel tank → Fig.
10 - Sealing ring
q   Renew if damaged
q   Coat with fuel when installing
11 - Spacer bush
12 - 15 Nm
13 - Fuel tank
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
14 - 25 Nm
15 - Securing strap
q   Note differing length
16 - Supply pipe
q   To fuel filter → Item
q   Black
q   Clipped onto fuel tank
q   Check securely seated
q   To remove from flange press release button on connecting piece
17 - Return pipe
q   From fuel filter → Item
q   Blue or blue markings
q   Clipped onto fuel tank
q   Check securely seated
q   To remove from flange press release button on connecting piece
18 - Vent valve
q   To remove valve unclip out of side support
q   Before installing remove sealing cap
q   Checking → Fig.

   
Installation position of fuel gauge sender
Marking on sender must align with the marking on fuel tank -arrows-.
Connections for blue (or with blue marks) return hose -1- and black supply hose -2- are marked on the flange of the fuel gauge sender with arrows.
  Note!
After installing fuel gauge sender check that the supply pipe -2- and return pipe -1- are securely clipped onto fuel tank.

Checking vent valve
Lever in rest position: Closed
Lever pushed in direction of arrow: Open
  Note!
Before installing vent valve remove fuel tank sealing cover.
