Removing and installing radiator
Removing and installing radiator
t  Removing → Anchor.
t  Installing → Anchor.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10228
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6340-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing .
  Note
Even when the radiator and condenser are correctly installed, slight impressions may be visible on the fins of these components. This does not mean that the components are damaged. If the fins are only very slightly distorted, this does not justify renewal of the radiator or the condenser.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove radiator cowl → Chapter.

–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and remove the air duct from the lock carrier.

–  Disconnect left upper coolant hose from radiator, lift retaining clip -arrow- when doing this.

–  Loosen the bolt by one turn -1-.
–  Unscrew bolt -2- and nut -3-.
–  Leave the fuel filter to one side with the flexible hoses coupled.
  WARNING
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.

–  Unscrew the bolts -2- and -3- from the supports for the refrigerant tubes.

Disregard -item 1-.

–  Unplug the connector -arrow- on the high pressure sensor -G65-.
–  Remove the retaining clips of the bonnet support from the lock carrier.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- at rear and lift out radiator.
  Note
The prevent damage being caused to the coolant pipes, a second mechanic should be of assistance when removing the radiator.
Installing .
l  Specified torque → Chapter.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t  Renew seals and O-rings.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue.
–  Install radiator cowl → Chapter.
–  Replenish coolant → Anchor.
