Removing and installing front exhaust pipe

t	Removing → Anchor.

Removing

Note

The flexible joint (de-coupling element) in the exhaust system must not be bent more than 10° – otherwise it can be damaged.

–	Loosen clamp -arrow- and push to rear.

–	Detach front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter -arrows-.

–	Remove bolt -1- on bracket for front exhaust pipe and then detach front exhaust pipe.

Installing

Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.

–	Align the exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter.

Tightening torques

Components:		Nm
Front exhaust pipe to catalytic converter		40 → Remark → Remark
Support to gearbox/front exhaust pipe		40
Clamp		23

¹⁾	Paint the stud screws of the exhaust manifold with hot screw paste. Locking fluid for hot working bolts → Parts catalogue

²⁾	Renew self-locking nuts
