Removing and installing charge air cooler
Removing and installing charge air cooler
t  Removing → Anchor.
t  Installing → Anchor.
  Note
Check all hoses and pipes for correct fitting and leakage before carrying out tests or repairs.
   
Removing
–  Release quick-fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation.
–  Remove the front bumper cover → exterior body installation work; Rep. gr.63.
–  Remove headlights (left/right) → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94.

Only the charge air cooler on left side
–  Remove the air duct in front of the left charge air cooler -arrows-.

–  Detach electrical connector -3- at charge air pressure sender -G31-.
  WARNING
The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
–  Hook the bracket -4- on the coolant line of the AC system.
–  Open hose clips -1- and -2- and disconnect air intake hoses.
–  Detach charge air cooler by pulling upwards.

Only the charge air cooler on the right side
–  Remove air duct in front of charge air cooler (right-side) -arrow-.

–  Release the hose clips -arrows- and pull out the air guiding hoses.
–  Detach charge air cooler by pulling upwards.
Installing
Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t  Hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free from oil and grease before fitting.
t  Secure all screw joints with serial hose clips → Spare parts catalogue.
–  Install headlight → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94
–  Fit the front bumper cover → Exterior body installation work; Rep. gr.63.
–  Check headlight adjustment → Booklet301.
