Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-
t  Measuring tool -T10007-
t  Pliers -T20029- or counterhold -T20174-
t  Centre guide -T20070-
t  Tray -T20173-

Removing
  Note
t  To carry out this work it is necessary to disconnect battery earth strap. To this end, it is necessary to check whether the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, refer to the anti-theft coding.
t  In case of replacement of the radiator or the electric fan for the engine BXW, note that both components come together → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Empty coolant → Chapter.
–  Pull coolant hoses off radiator.
–  Pull connectors off thermo-switch and radiator fan.
Only engine code letters BXW
–  Remove the front bumper → Exterior body installation work; Rep. Gr.50.
Only for Engine codes AUB, BBY, BBZ, BKY
   
–  Place the lock carrier plate into service position →  Bodywork, exterior fitting work ; Rep. Gr.50
Continued for all vehicles:
Vehicles with air conditioning/heating
  Caution
Air conditioning/heating coolant circuit must not be opened
To avoid damage to the condenser and refrigerant pipes/sleeves, take care not to bend, twist or stretch the pipes/sleeves excessively.
–  Unbolt retaining clamp(s) for coolant tubes.
–  Unscrew the condenser from its attachment to the radiator and secure it to the brake lock carrier.
  Note
In case of replacement of the radiator or the electric fan for the engine BXW, note that both components come together → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).
Continued for all vehicles:
–  Remove radiator ducting and electrofans.
–  Unscrew radiator bolts and take out radiator and fan.
Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse order to removal, observing the following:
–  Fill cooling system → Chapter.
