Removing and installing poly V-belt
Removing and installing poly V-belt

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Adjustment tool -T40098-, please see Correspondence → Anchor

Removing
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  E10-10127
–  Loosen quick-type locks -1 and 2- and remove front noise insulation.

–  Open clips -arrows- and remove toothed belt cover.

–  Move tensioning element with wrench -T20126- clockwise -arrow-, remove poly-V-belt from generator pulley, align openings and arrest tensioning element with aid of adjustment tool -T40098-.

  E13-10072
Place the holes -arrows- above each other and lock the clamping element using the retention tool -T40098-.
  Caution
Risk of breakage if the poly V-belt runs in the opposite direction when refitted.
Before removing, mark direction of rotation of toothed belt with chalk or felt-tip pen for re-installation.
–  Remove poly V-belt.
Installing
Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
  N13-10297
–  Fit poly V-belt on poly V-belt pulley:
1 - Alternator
2 - Idler roller
3 - Power steering pump
4 - Air conditioning compressor
5 - Poly V-belt tensioning element
6 - Vibration damper
  Note
When installing poly V-belt, make sure it is properly seated on pulleys.
–  Start engine and check that belt runs properly.
