Intake manifold flap motor -V157- with intake manifold flap potentiometer -G336-: Removing and installing

Installation location for engine intake manifold flap -V157- see intake manifold exploded view.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Common ratchet 1/4 inch
   
t  Torx 30 insert
Removing
–  Remove the engine cover → Chapter
  A24-10586
Only for »engines with engine codes BWJ, CDLD, CDLA«
–  Disconnect the connector on the turbo-charger air recirculation valve -N249--1-.
–  Remove bolt -2-.
–  Open the hose clip -3- and disconnect the turbo-charger air recirculation valve -N249-
  Note
Cover the opening on the suction hose.

Continued for all vehicles
–  Disconnect the vacuum tubes -arrows-.

–  Unplug connectors -arrow-.
–  Loosen the cable tie -A- and place the wiring harness completely to one side.

–  Unscrew the the cable harness mount -arrows- from the water pipes.
  Note
t  The nut with the arrow pointing to the left only need be loosened until the mount can be swivelled to one side.
t  The plastic holders are clipped-in.
t  Electrical connector is shown with intake manifold removed for illustration purposes.

–  Remove the connecting rods -arrow- from the intake manifold flap motor -V157-.
–  Unscrew the screws -1- and -2- using the reversing ratchet with handle 1/4" and the T30 socket.
  Note
  N24-10521
The rear screws -arrow- can only be unscrewed using a reversing ratchet with handle. The free space between the screws and water pipe is very limited.
–  Remove the Intake manifold flap motor -V157- to the intake manifold.
Installing
–  Installation is carried out in reverse order.
  N24-10639
–  Tighten screws -1 and 2- hand tight so that the thread is not damaged.
–  Tighten turbocharger recirculation valve -N249-: Installing → Item.
After replacing the intake manifold flap motor -V157- or the intake manifold, the intake manifold flap potentiometer -G336- must always be adapted to the engine control unit → Vehicle diagnostic tester„Guided Functions“.
