1 - Sealing plug
q   Replace gasket if it shows signs of damage.
2 - Oil supply pipe
q   For the exhaust gas turbocharger
3 - Oil dipstick
q   The oil level should not be over the MAX mark!
q   Marks → Fig.
4 - Upper bracket for auxiliary units
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
5 - Seal
q   If this is damaged, replace it
6 - Bush
7 - Oil filter, 20 Nm
  Note
Before removing the oil filter, cover the generator with a cloth.
q   Use the oil filter wrench -3417- to unfasten
q   Observe the installation instructions printed on the filter
q   With non-return valve
8 - 25 Nm
9 - Seal
q   If this is damaged, replace it
10 - 8 Nm + turn 90° further
q   Renew
11 - Oil cooler
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
12 - 8 Nm
q   Observe tightening sequence → Chapter.
13 - Upper distribution housing
q   Fit using sealant -D 176 501 A1-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
14 - 25 Nm
15 - Lower valve timing housing
q   Fit using sealant -D 176 600 A1-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
16 - 5 Nm + turn 30° further
q   Tighten using the torque wrench -VAS 6583-
17 - 5 Nm + turn 30° further
q   Tighten using the torque wrench -VAS 6583-
18 - Control chain
q   For oil pump
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Mark D.O.R. before dismounting (installation position)
19 - 150 Nm + turn 180° further
q   Renew
q   Removing and installing crankshaft pulley → Chapter
q   The contact surface of the fastening bolt must be free of oil and grease
q   Apply oil before fitting it (thread)
q   Secure the pulley with the counterhold -3415- and counterhold -3415/2- to prevent it from turning
q   The retightening angle can be measured with a standard protractor
20 - Pulley
q   The contact surface of the pulley must be free of oil and grease
q   Poly-V belt: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Secure the pulley with the counterhold -3415- and counterhold -3415/2- to prevent it from turning
21 - Seal
q   If this is damaged, replace it
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
22 - Sealing cap
23 - 20 Nm + turn 90° further
q   Renew
24 - Pinions
q   For oil pump drive
q   Immobilise using the retention tool -T10172-.
25 - Oil pump:
q   Always replace completely
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
26 - 13 Nm
q   Renew
q   Only loosen or fasten the bolts on the side of the flywheel using the hexagon key -T10058-.
27 - 10 Nm
28 - Oil level/oil temperature sender -G266-
q   If this is damaged, replace it
q   Checking: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
29 - Seal
q   Renew
30 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm
q   With safety washer
q   Renew
31 - Oil pan
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Clean sealing surface before installing
q   Fit using sealant -D 176 600 A1-
32 - 14 Nm + turn 90° further
33 - O ring
q   Renew
34 - Oil intake pipe
35 - 8 Nm
36 - 8 Nm
37 - Oil deflector
q   Fit using sealant -D 176 501 A1-

   
Markings on oil dipstick
1 - MAX mark
2 - MIN marking
a - Zone between upper ridge of marked area and MAX mark: do not add oil
b - The level is found in the marked area: oil can be refilled
c - Area between the Min marking and the lower edge of the area with grid: Refill with max. 0.5 l.
