Part II Chain control - Assembly overview
1 - Cylinder head with camshaft housing
q   The seal surface should not be reworked
q   With integrated camshaft bearings
q   Remove any sealant remains.
q   Before mounting, apply AMV 188 001 02.
q   To fit, place vertically with the adjustment bolts in the cylinder head holes
2 - cylinder block
q   Removing and installing the engine block → Chapter
q   Dismantle and assemble pistons and conrods → Chapter
3 - Holder
q   For tension device and air conditioner compressor
4 - Chain ratchet
q   To drive oil pump and distribution chain
q   The contact surfaces must be free of oil and grease.
5 - Control chain
q   Mark D.O.R. before dismounting (installation position)
6 - Guide rail
q   For distribution chain
7 - 25 Nm
8 - Chain tensioner with tensioning plate
q   For oil pump drive
9 - Tensioning spring
10 - Oil sump
q   Removal and assembly for engines with liquid seal → Chapter
q   Clean sealing surface before installing
q   Install with silicone sealant D 176 404 A2
11 - 15 Nm
12 - 15 Nm
13 - Chain ratchet
q   Immobilise the sprocket using the retention tool -T10172-.
14 - Trim cover
15 - 20 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Replace
16 - Piston
q   For control chain tensioner
17 - Compression spring
18 - Chain tensioner
19 - 9 Nm
20 - Distribution housing
q   For ease of assembly, tighten two studs -M6x80- on the camshaft casing and the engine block
q   Fix the oil sump with two bolts to ease the fitting of the distribution casing.
21 - Sleeve
q   Follow the correct tightening order → Chapter
q   The contact surfaces must be free of oil and grease.
22 - Belt pulley
q   Follow the correct tightening order → Chapter
q   The contact surfaces must be free of oil and grease.
q   Secure the pulley with the counterhold -3415- to prevent it from turning
q   Poly-V belt: Removing and installing radio → Chapter
23 - Attachment bolt
q   Follow the correct tightening order → Chapter
q   Replace
q   The contact surface of the fastening bolt must be free of oil and grease
q   Apply oil before fitting it (thread)
q   Secure the pulley with the counterhold -3415- to prevent it from turning
q   The torque angle can be measured with a Hazet 6690 torque or equivalent
24 - 10 Nm
25 - 50 Nm
26 - 10 Nm
27 - Leads to intake manifold
28 - 10 Nm
29 - Vacuum valve
30 - O-ring
q   Replace
31 - 10 Nm
32 - Oil settling tank
33 - Gasket
q   Replace
34 - Tensioning plate
35 - 40 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   Immobilise the variator using the retention tool -T10172-.
q   Left turn bolt
q   Replace
36 - 50 Nm + 1/4 turn (90º)
q   Immobilise the sprocket using the retention tool -T10172-.
q   Replace
37 - Variator
q   Must not be dismantled
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
38 - Distribution chain
q   Mark D.O.R. before dismounting (installation position)
39 - Chain ratchet
q   For exhaust camshaft
q   Immobilise using the retention tool -T10172-
40 - Guide pin 20 Nm
