Test condition
l  Engine warm.
Checking process:
  WARNING
Steam may be released when opening the expansion tank. Cover the cap with a cloth and open carefully.
–  Open the Sealing plug of the coolant expansion tank.
–  Mount the Cooling system tester adaptor -V.A.G 1274/8- onto the coolant expansion tank.
–  Place the connecting piece -V.A.G 1274 B/1- on the Cooling system tester adaptor -V.A.G 1274/8-.

–  Connect the connecting piece -V.A.G 1274 B/1- together with the connecting hose of the device to the cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B-
–  Using hand pump on tester, build up a pressure of approx. 1.0 bar.
  DANGER!
Risk of burn injuries! Before removing the cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B- from the connecting hose or from the connecting piece -V.A.G 1274 B/1-, the pressure must be released. For this purpose, press the pressure relief valve cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B- until the pressure gauge equipment displays the value »0«.
If the pressure drops:
–  Locate the leak and rectify the fault.
Testing pressure relief valve in filler cap:
–  Screw the cap into the adapter -V.A.G 1274/9-.
–  Place the connecting piece -V.A.G 1274 B/1- on the Cooling system tester adaptor -V.A.G 1274/9-.

–  Connect the connecting piece -V.A.G 1274 B/1- together with the connecting hose of the device to the cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B-
–  Operate hand vacuum pump.
l  The pressure release valve should open at a pressure of 1.4 - 1.6 bar.
