Air tight seal of the injectors and the quantity injected: verification
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A-
t  Adapter cable -VAS 1348/3-2-
t  Auxiliary measurement tool set -V.A.G 1594A- or -V.A.G 1594C-
t  Verification box (double connector) -V.A.G 1598/22- (identification letters BBX)
t  Verification box (double connector) -V.A.G 1598/31- (identification letters AZL)
t  Tester for checking injection through-flow -V.A.G 1602-

Test conditions
l  The fuel pressure must be in order, checking → Chapter
Verification process
–  Remove the fuel rail along with the injectors from the inlet manifold. The fuel hoses stay connected.

–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to control unit wiring harness, without connecting the engine control unit (for BBX engines use the tester -V.A.G 1598/22-) → Chapter.
Airtight seal: verification
–  Bridge the contacts 1 + 65 (AZL engines) or 2 + 26 (BBX engines) from the test box using the cables from the -V.A.G 1594A- or -V.A.G 1594C-.
–  Remove connectors from all injectors.
–  Turn the ignition on.
  Note!
After connecting the ignition, the fuel pump will operate continuously if the engine is stopped for the following reason: After connection of the ignition, the relay for the fuel pump is supplied a positive voltage through the electrical switch board. The negative voltage is received through the bridge of the test equipment cables.
–  Checking the injectors for leaks (visually). With fuel pump functioning, only 1 or 2 drops (per injector) should come out in a minute.
If the fuel loss is greater:
–  Switch off ignition and replace the leaking injector.
  Note!
Always replace O-rings.
