Voltage supply and cables to the engine control unit: verification

Test conditions
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 V
Verification process
–  Extract the 6 pin connector from the throttle control unit -arrow-.
–  Measure the voltage with the multimeter and the auxiliary cables of -V.A.G 1594 A- or -V.A.G 1594 C- as follows:

–  Turn the ignition on. Specification: 4.5 V minimum
–  Switch ignition off.
   
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to control unit wiring harness, without connecting the engine control unit (for BBX engines use the tester -V.A.G 1598/22-) → Chapter.

–  Check wiring between test box and 6-pin connector for open circuit or closed circuit to earth or positive:
  A24-0139

Specification: 1.5 Ω max. 

–  Additionally check wires for short to one another. Specification: ∞ Ω.
If no wiring fault is detected:
–  Replace engine control unit: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis.
