Checking sequence
–  Remove rear right seat → general body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.72.
–  Detach carpet under seats and fold it back.

–  Release retainers -arrows- at cover for sealing flange.

–  Release carefully electrical connection -arrow- on sealing flange and take off.

–  Connect the manual multimeter -VAG 1526B- and measure the resistance between contacts-2- and -3-.

Fuel gauge senders -G-Approx. 270 ΩApprox. 70 Ω

  Note
t  The measurement value 0 indicates a short circuit; the value ∞ Ω indicates an open circuit.
t  To test the maximum and minimum resistance values for „tank full“ and „tank empty“, remove the fuel delivery unit → Chapter and move the sender float all the way to its top or bottom position.
When the fuel gauge sender -G-is removed, and due to the large floater range of movement, the following values are obtained:

Fuel gauge senders -G-Approx. 290 ΩApprox. 54 Ω

Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:
–  Fit rear seat → bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.
