Removing
–  First remove the outer cover -1- and then the inner cover -2- upwards equally.
  E10-10038
–  Release the fuel and coolant hoses from their fittings on the air duct.
–  Remove bolt -1-.
–  Remove air duct by lifting retaining clips -arrows- slightly.
  A10-10266
–  Detach electrical connector -1- of the engine intake manifold flap -V157-.
–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- and remove the intake manifold flap motor -V157-.
  A10-10029
–  Disconnect the electrical connector -1- on the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- with the potentiometer for regulating exhaust gases -G212-.
–  Remove the electrical harness from the brackets and move to one side.
–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- of the intake manifold.
  Note
For improved understanding, it is shown from the rear in the illustration with engine removed.
  A10-10030
–  Disconnect electrical connection -4- for lambda probe -G39-.
  A23-10003
–  Unscrew the pressure hose -4- of the particle filter.
–  Undo the lambda probe -G39--3- using the socket wrench E/C 22 -T20202A- and the "ratchet 1/2"" x 9-12" -VAG 1331/1-.
–  Unbolt the support -2- of the pressure hoses.
–  Undo the temperature sender before the particle filter -G448--5- using the socket wrench E/C 17 -T20211- and the "ratchet 1/2"" x 9-12" -VAG 1331/1-.
  A26-10173
–  Disconnect the electrical connector -arrow- for temperature sender 1 of the exhaust gases -G450-.
–  Unscrew exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- and remove together with the pressure hoses.
–  Remove the front right wheel.
  A26-10188
–  Remove central noise insulation -Attachment parts 1 ... 3-.
  A10-1565
–  Remove the noise insulation on the right side -Attachment parts 1 ... 3-.
  A10-1643
–  Unbolt the temperature sender after the particulate filter -G527--1- using the articulated wrench E/C 17 -T20212-.
–  Unbolt the pressure pipe -2- using the articulated wrench E/C 17 -T20212-.
  E26-10042
–  Unscrew the brackets -1- of the particle filter.
–  Remove the brackets.
–  Remove right wheel articulated drive shaft from the gearbox flange and move it towards the oil sump.
  A26-10173
–  Remove the support bolts of the particle filter and the engine block, and remove the support.
  A26-10190
–  Remove the front tunnel bridge -arrows-.
  Note
The flexible pipe connection (de-coupling element) in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it can be damaged.
–  Unscrew the nuts on the double clamp -1-.
  A26-0734
–  Unbolt the exhaust system bracket -arrows-.
–  Make sure the cables are not damaged when removing the forward section of the exhaust pipe with the particle filter.
  Note
t  The mounting on the front section of the exhaust pipe with particle filter should not be bent by more than 10° otherwise there is a risk of damage.
t  Pay attention to the electrical connections and routing the cables without damaging.
  A26-0735
–  Remove the particle filter by turning 180º and remove it between the floor well and the front mechanical bridge.
Installing
Continue the installation in the reverse order of removal sequence, observing the following:
  Note
t  Always gaskets and self-locking nuts.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (original parts) → ETKA (Electronic parts catalogue).
t  Fit the cable clamps in the same position as they were.
–  Place the exhaust flange in the turbocharger without tightening.
  E26-10021
–  Fit the exhaust gas pressure gauge sensor 1 -G450- and manually screw in the pressure hose bolts -7- and -8- to the particle filter.
  E26-10020
–  Attach engine holder to cylinder block.
–  Position the conical mouth of the particle filter in the mouth of the turbocharger connection, fit the particle filter with bolts -arrows- to the support to fix the unit and to be able to fit the particle filter bracket.
  A26-10190
–  Tighten the clamp -1- to a torque of 7 Nm.
–  Continue with the installation following reverse order of removal instructions.
