Fuel pump: check
t  Operation and voltage supply: check → Anchor
t  Fuel pump: current consumption: verification → Anchor

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Manual multimeter -VAG 1526C-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Voltage tester -VAG 1527B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Digital multimeter -VAG 1715-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisites
l  The fuses must be in good condition.
l  Battery voltage: at least 11.5 V
l  All consumer electrics, for example: lights, heated rear window, should be off.
Operation and voltage supply: verification
–  Remove rear seat → bodywork - interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.
  W00-0573
–  Release retainers -arrows- at cover for sealing flange.
–  Switch on ignition. The fuel pump should be heard to come on.
–  Switch ignition OFF.
If the fuel pump does not run:
  A20-1066
–  Disconnect the 5-pin connector -arrow- from the bracket for the fuel delivery unit.
  A20-1067
–  Attach the voltage tester -VAG 1527B- to the outer contacts of the auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-.
–  Switch on ignition. The LED must light for approx. 2 seconds
If the LED does not light up:
–  Verify the activation of the fuel pump relay and check the cables for interruption or short circuit → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
If the diode lights (voltage supply is OK):
–  Remove fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
–  Check if the cables between the flange and fuel pump are connected and that there is no interruption.
If there is cable integrity:
–  Renew fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
Fuel pump current consumption: verification
  N20-10045
–  Connect the digital multimeter -VAG 1715- using the clamp ammeter on the cable to contact -1-.
–  Start engine and allow to idle.
–  Measure the power consumption of the fuel pump:
t  Specification: 4,5 ... 5.5 amps.
  Note
If there is a temporary fuel system fault, the check can also be carried out during a test drive, with the help of a second person.
–  If the measurement value differs from the specification:
–  Renew fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
