Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Hose clamp -T10051-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T10052A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Guide sleeve -T20081B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T20143-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
l  Cylinder head installed.
–  Remove the notched belt: vehicles with small engine support → Chapter; vehicles with large engine support → Chapter
   
–  Extract the retention tool -T20102-.
–  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- of the camshaft wheels.
–  Remove the camshaft wheels from the hubs.

–  Loosen the fuel inlet camshaft wheel attachment bolts -1-...

–  ... and the exhaust camshaft. To do this use retention tool -T10051-.
–  Slackening the fixing screws for the hub by approx. 2 turns and screw loose into the camshaft.

–  Fit the extractor -T10052A- to the supply cam hub and tighten the bolts -arrows- on the hub.
–  Extract the hub, hold the nut (e/c 30) on the extractor and tighten the bolt -1-.

–  Fit the extractor -T10052A- to the supply cam hub and tighten the bolts -arrows- on the hub.
–  Extract the hub, hold the nut (e/c 30) on the extractor and tighten the bolt -1-.

–  Insert the extractor -T20143- and extract the corresponding camshaft seal, supply or exhaust -1-.
–  Clean contact surface and sealing surface.
Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removing, when doing this note the following.
  Note
The sealing lip of the seal must not be oiled or greased.
–  Remove any oil remains from the camshaft journals using a clean cloth.
–  Cover the two camshaft cone grooves with adhesive tape.

–  Carefully fit the seal to the supply camshaft.
–  Use pressure to fit the seal using the adapter -T20081/3- and the bolt M12x60 to the limit.

–  Carefully fit the seal to the exhaust camshaft.
–  Use pressure to fit the seal using the adapter -T20081/3- and the bolt M12x60 to the limit.

–  Fit the hub to the exhaust camshaft.
–  Tighten securing bolt -1- to 100 Nm (use counter holder -T10051-).

–  Fit the hub to the supply camshaft.
–  Tighten securing bolt -1- to 100 Nm (use counter holder -T10051-).

–  Move the camshaft wheels along the hubs.
l  The notched section -arrows- of the camshaft wheels must face up.
–  Screw in the bolts -1- without tightening.
–  Immobilise the hubs using the retention tools -T20102-.
–  Install the toothed belt (adjusting valve timing): vehicles with small engine support → Anchor; vehicles with large engine support → Anchor
–  Install vibration damper → Chapter.
–  Install poly V-belt → Chapter.
