Rework valve seats > < Work sequence
Servicing valve gear: servicing
   
Servicing valve gear: servicing
1 - Tighten to 20 Nm + continue tightening 1/4 turn (90°)
q   Renew
q   Use camshaft locking tool -T10016- to loosen and tighten → Fig.
2 - Camshaft sprocket
q   Note position when installing the toothed belt → Chapter
3 - Sealing ring
q   Only replace with camshaft installed
q   Lightly oil sealing lip of oil seal
q   Renew → Chapter
4 - Coupling drive toothed belt
q   Mark direction of rotation before removing
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   Removing, installing and tensioning → Chapter
5 - Camshaft housing
q   Removal and installation → Chapter
q   Remove remnants of old sealant
q   Before installing, lubricate with -D 188 003 A1-
q   When installing fit vertically from above onto studs and dowel pins
6 - Tighten to 10 Nm + continue tightening 1/4 turn (90°)
q   Renew
q   Tighten from centre outwards
7 - Sealing cap/ignition transformer retainer
8 - 10 Nm
9 - Roller rocker finger
q   Check bearings for ease of movement
q   Oil contact surface
q   Use securing clip to clip onto support element when installing
10 - Valve cotters
11 - Sealing cap
12 - 20 Nm
13 - Lifting eye
14 - Non-return valve, 6 Nm
q   Insert with -D 154 102 A1-
q   Do not overtighten, otherwise the valve can stick
15 - Support element
q   Check oil spray drillings
q   With hydraulic valve clearance compensation
q   Do not interchange
q   Before installing check camshaft axial clearance → Fig.
q   Oil contact surface

q   Removing and installing: Cylinder head Cylinder head removed: with -T20034/1- installed: → Chapter, renewing valve stem seals
18 - Valve stem seal
q   Renew → Chapter

q   With collar

q   Checking → Chapter
q   Renew → Chapter
21 - Valves
q   Do not rework, only grinding is permitted
q   Valve dimensions → Fig.
22 - Cylinder head:
q   Rework valve seats → Chapter
q   Reworking the sealing surface → Fig.
23 - 20 Nm
24 - Coupling drive tensioning roller
q   Checking → Chapter
q   Tensioning toothed belt → Chapter
25 - Sealing plug, 45 Nm
q   Insert with -D 154 102 A1-
q   Must not be screwed in too far
q   Maximum permitted insertion depth from top of plug to camshaft housing surface = 2 mm
26 - Camshafts
q   Checking axial clearance → Fig.
q   Coat with oil before inserting (also axle bearing shoulder)
q   Identification and valve timing → Fig.
q   After installing, replace seals → Chapter
27 - O-ring
q   Renew
q   Coat with oil before inserting

   
Locking both camshaft sprockets with camshaft locking tool -T10016-
Work sequence
–  Guide both locking pins through camshaft sprocket locking pin holes onto stop in camshaft housing fitting holes.
  Note!
Both locking pins are inserted correctly when the ends -D- align with line -A-.
–  Slide retainer -B- onto stop on inlet camshaft sprocket -C-.
–  When both camshaft sprockets are locked in the fitting holes the camshaft pulleys can be loosened or tightened.

t  Universal dial gauge bracket -T20020-
t  Dial gauge
Test sequence
Perform measurements with camshaft housing removed and sealing cover fitted.
Wear limit: Max. 0.40 mm
