  WARNING
The following are prerequisites before starting work on the electrical system and removing the steering wheel:
Put the front wheels straight.
Ensure that the ignition key is not in the engine ignition lock.
Disconnect the earth lead from the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27 .
If these instructions are not followed then the airbag system could fail later!
–  Put the front wheels straight.
–  Pull down lever beneath steering column.
–  Pull the steering column down as far as possible and remove.
–  Removal of the steering wheel → Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.69.
–  Fit the steering column combination switch trimming, → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94 .
–  Remove the switching module on the steering column → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94 .
   
–  Carefully extract the assembly/retainer ring with the contact friction ring -1-.

–  Carefully remove the steering wheel angle sender -G85--arrow-.
  WARNING
The retainer ring with the contact friction ring must not be rotated when separated.
