  WARNING
The brake pedal stroke must not be obstructed by fitting extra coverings to the footwell.
  Note
Before fitting, grease all support points and contact surfaces with grease → Parts Catalogue.
1 - Retainer
q   removing and fitting → Chapter.
q   Non-removable crash safety, soldered to support
2 - Hexagonal nut
3 - 28 Nm
q   Replace
4 - Brake light switch -F- and brake pedal switch -F47-
q   Before fitting the brake light switch, the brake pedal should be engaged with the servo brake pressure-bar → Chapter
q   Removing, installing and adjusting the brake light switch -F- and brake pedal switch -F47 - → Chapter
q   Check brake light operation
5 - Accelerator pedal
6 - Brake pedal
q   Separate the brake pedal from the servo brake → Chapter
q   removing and fitting → Chapter.
7 - Mounting bush
8 - Cap
9 - Support bolt
10 - 20 Nm
q   Replace
11 - Brake servo:
q   In petrol engines, the necessary vacuum is taken from the intake manifold
q   In diesel engines the vacuum is obtained by a fitted vacuum pump
q   Operating test:
–  With engine off, press the brake pedal hard several times (this reduces the existing vacuum in the servo brake).
–  Next, keep the brake pedal depressed halfway and start engine. If the brake servo is working correctly the brake pedal will give way notably (the brake servo effect is beginning)
q   If faulty, replace completely.
q   Non return valve (in the vacuum hose)
–  Operating test: → Chapter
q   Separating from the brake pedal → Chapter
q   removing and fitting → Chapter.
q   Allocation → Spare parts catalogue

q   For crash safety
15 - 10 Nm
q   Replace
