Installing
Installing
Before resetting piston, draw off brake fluid from reservoir. Otherwise, particularly if reservoir has been topped up, fluid will overflow and cause damage.
   
–  Screw in piston by turning knurled wheel of resetting and removal tool -3272- clockwise, do not damage protective cap when doing this.
t  Apply resetting and removal tool -3272- so that collar -arrow- of tool rests on brake caliper.
t  If piston is difficult to move, use a 13 mm open jaw spanner on flats -arrow A- provided for this purpose.

–  Insert brake pad retaining springs -arrows- and brake pads into brake carrier.
–  Pull protective foil off brake pad backplate.
–  Secure brake caliper with new self-locking bolts.
t  The repair kit includes four self-locking hexagon bolts which must always be installed.
  N46-0166
–  Press brake lever -2- in direction of arrow and attach handbrake cable -3-.
–  Install clip -1-.
–  Adjust handbrake → Chapter.
Operate foot brake first after adjusting handbrake.
–  Install wheels.
Wheel bolt torque settings → Running gear, axles, steering; Front and four-wheel drive; Rep. Gr.44
  Note!
t  After changing brake pads, firmly depress brake pedal several times with vehicle stationary, so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  After changing brake pads check brake fluid level.

Specified torque settings: 
Hexagon bolt, brake caliper to brake carrier
t  Use new bolts!
35 Nm
