Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Wedge -T10161 -, see equivalent → Anchor
–  Loosen the twelve-sided nut of the half-shaft → Chapter.
  Note
During this step, vehicle must not be standing on its wheels or wheel bearing will be damaged.
–  Remove the lower sound insulation element → Rep. gr.50 .
–  Remove wheel.

–  Unscrew nuts -arrows-.
  Note
During disassembly and assembly work, take care that the rubber bellow of the ball joint is not damaged. Where necessary, protect the rubber bellow of the ball joint against damaged.
–  Remove the steering knuckle together with the traverse swinging arm ball joint.

–  Manually push the exterior joint from the wheel hub. Use extractor - T20001A -, if necessary.
  E42-00001
–  Extract the articulated complete half-shaft from the wheel bearing housing, rocking the telescopic arm outwards and pressing using a rod -1-.
  E40-10015
–  Place the wedge -T10161- between the gearbox casing and the tripod type joint.
–  Release the internal joint of the gearbox by hitting the wedge - T10161 - with a hammer.
–  Extract the complete half-shaft.
