Removal
Removal
–  Separating and fitting the air filter: → Rep. Gr.24.
  Note
Before fitting the hooks of the tool, the hose connections and cables in the area of the lifting eyes of the engine tackle must be removed so as not to damage them.
   
–  Connect the stand -U-30025E-, tense the engine assembly by using the spindles.
Vehicles with cable gear change
  E40-0181
–  Detach the cable connection support, from the sub frame -arrow-gear change control.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove the front wheels, to facilitate the disassembly and assembly of the stub axle strut joint.
–  Remove the soundproofing pan if fitted: → Bodywork, exterior installation work; Rep. Gr.50
  Note
t  For the removal of the right and left joints turn the steering to the left and to the right respectively.
t  Leave the hexagon nut on the ball joint threads to protect them.

–  Disengage the ball joint from the wheel bearing housing using the extractor-T20147-.
–  Lower the front lower arm to extract the joint from the stub axle strut.

–  Remove the screws -arrow- attaching the steering casing to the subframe and attach it to the body of the car.
–  Separating the exhaust system, front end: → Rep. Gr.26.

–  Separate the gearbox from the pendulum support.-1-.

–  Extract the 2 screws from the rear of the subframe -arrows-.

–  Position the centre guides -T20163 A- in place of the rear screws.

–  Put the hydraulic jack -SAT 1040- underneath the subframe using the base -T20145- and the attachment tool -T20161-.

–  Extract the 2 screws attaching the subframe to the vehicle from the front -arrows-.
  Note
Attention: the steering gear will be released downwards from the subframe.

–  Lower the subframe using the hydraulic jack -SAT 1040- and the base -T20145- plus the attachment tool -T20161-.
