  Note
t  For those vehicles fitted with xenon dual-function headlights, before beginning the removal of the strut, the connection on the vehicle level sender must be unplugged; this is located on the front left hand side suspension, depending upon versions → Electric system; Rep. gr. 94
t  Perform the basic setting of the lights → Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94 → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
t  Before beginning the removal of the subframe, ensure that the ignition key is not inserted in the ignition lock.
t  Disconnect the battery before beginning disassembly of the strut.
t  Before beginning removal of the stabilizer bar, the installation position of the strut on the bodywork must be secured using the fastening devices -T10096- for subsequent fitting → Chapter.
t  The fastening devices -T10096- should only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, otherwise the thread of the fastening bolt may be damaged.
–  Remove front wheels.
   
–  Unscrew nuts -arrows- and remove footwell trim.

–  Undo bolt -1- and remove the cross member -2- from the steering box.
–  Remove the lower sound insulation element → Rep. gr.50.
–  Detach coupling rod from the stabiliser.

–  Unscrew nuts -arrows-.
–  Loosen the nut of the steering ball joint on both sides, but do not undo totally.
Leave nut screwed several turns onto track rod ball joint shank to protect thread.

–  Remove the ball joint from the stub axle using the Ball joint extractor -3287 A-.
–  Fixing position of subframe with brackets → Chapter.

–  Unscrew the stabiliser bar from the strut -11 and 16-.
–  Unscrew bolts -14- and detach pendulum support from gearbox.
–  Remove the bolts securing the exhaust pipe bracket to the strut.

–  Unscrew the subframe cable protector -arrow-.

–  Undo bolts -4 and 5- and slightly lower the strut with the consoles. Pay attention to wiring.

–  Lever the steering box backwards using a screwdriver.

–  Next lift the stabiliser bar -1- forwards, above the console -2-, in order to lower the strut.
