Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Special tools -T40067-
Removal:
–  Unscrew bolt on propeller shaft (only on vehicles standing on wheels - accident hazard).
–  Remove wheel.
–  Secure brake disc with wheel bolt.
–  Remove the line of the speed sensor for ABS/ESP from its support on the wheel bearing assembly.
–  Disassembly the brake disk → Brake system; Rep. gr.46.

–  Thread off the screw -5- of the speed sensor for ABS/ESP.
–  Remove brake disc.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the heat shield.

–  Loosen nut -1-, take out hexagon bolt and pull out both upper links -2- upwards.
Do not attempt to enlarge slots in wheel bearing housing using a chisel or similar.
–  Rotate the wheel bearing assembly in the direction of the arrow so that it will not hamper the removal of the drive shaft pin from the wheel hub.
–  Fasten the drive shaft e.g. with wire, on the body.

–  Unscrew mounting bolts -1- from wheel bearing/wheel hub.
–  Remove wheel bearing/wheel hub.
  Caution
Do not damage or soil wheel bearing/wheel hub when laying down/storing.

Wheel bearing/wheel hub -1- should always point upward.
–  Always place bearing on wheel hub -2-.
–  Remove, install wheel bearing/wheel hub unit → Chapter
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Insert wheel bearing/wheel hub into wheel bearing housing.

–  Screw mounting bolts -1- into wheel bearing/wheel hub and tighten → Item.
–  Insert the joint on the outer side of the drive shaft in the wheel hub and tighten the new hexagon bolt by hand.
t  Any residual adhesive on the threads must be removed.

–  Fit joint pins of both upper links in wheel bearing housing and press down as far as possible by clamping with special tool -T40067 -.
  A40-10016
–  Install and tighten new bolt -1- and self-locking nut → Item.
–  Install speed sensor for ABS/ESP.
–  Install brake disk → Brake system; Rep. gr.46.
–  Mount the wheels and the tighten the wheel bolts → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.44
–  Tighten bolt on propeller shaft to specified tightening torque (tighten only on vehicles standing on wheels - accident hazard). → Chapter.
–  Wheel alignment → Chapter
Setting of the running gear must be done with an alignment stand recommended by SEAT.
