Loosening twelve-point bolt
–  With the vehicle still standing on its wheels, loosen the dodecagonal bolts by maximum 90° in order not to damage the wheel bearing. Use the 24 mm socket insert -T10361- to do this.
–  Raise vehicle so that wheels are off the ground.
–  Have second mechanic apply brakes.

–  Remove twelve-point bolt -arrow-.
Installing twelve-point bolt
–  Renew twelve-point bolt.
  Note
The wheels must not be in contact with the ground when initially tightening the drive shaft bolt; otherwise the wheel bearing will be damaged.
–  Have second mechanic apply brakes.
–  Tighten twelve-point bolt to 200 Nm.
–  Lower vehicle onto its wheels.
–  Turn twelve-point bolt 180° further.
