  Note
t  No welding or straightening work can be done on the support and guide elements of the suspension system.
t  Always replace self-locking nuts following their removal.
t  Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
1 - Support block for rear axle
2 - Spring support
3 - Suspension spring
q   It can be removed and fitted without the spring tensor
q   Note the identification using colours.
q   The surface of the spring spiral must not be damaged.
4 - Base
q   Material: zinc
q   replace if damaged
5 - Hexagonal nut
q   With centring point
6 - Shock absorber
q   Assembly overview: Shock absorber → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Can be replaced separately.
q   Ensure that the shock absorber does not have any leaks or produce noise.
7 - Hexagonal nut
q   55 Nm
q   Replace after removing
q   When tightening note the fitting angle between the rear axle and the shock absorber → Fig.
8 - Brake pipe
9 - Allen bolt
q   8 Nm
10 - Revolution sensors rear left and right -G44-/-G46-
q   Checked via self diagnosis: → VAS 5051
q   Before fitting the sensor, clean the internal surface of the housing and cover using lubricating paste -G 000 650-.
q   On fitting the revolution sensors, make sure that the cables are not twisted in entering the wheel housing
q   The rear rotors and revolution sensors on both sides are common parts
11 - Axle stub
q   Straightening repairs are not permitted!
q   The screw threads cannot be reworked!
12 - Brake plate with brake shoes
q   Repairs: →  Brake system; Rep. Gr.46
13 - Brake drum
q   Overview assembly: Wheel bearing assembly → Chapter
14 - Hexagonal nut
q   With plate spring
q   60 Nm
15 - Bracket
q   For hand brake cable
16 - Hand brake cable
q   Removing and installing → brake system; Rep. Gr.46.
17 - Hexagonal nut
q   65 Nm
q   Replace after removing
q   When adjusting the nut, keep the axle in a horizontal position (position without load).
18 - Metal/rubber bearing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Grease → Anchor
19 - Axle body
q   Removal and fitting → Chapter, rear axle: removal and fitting
q   Straightening repairs are not permitted!
q   Keep the contact surface and the screw holes for the axle rod free of paint and dirt.
20 - Bracket
q   For hand brake cable
21 - Hexagonal nut
q   Fit from the centre of the vehicle
q   Replace after removing
