Subframe, final drive (all-wheel drive) - Assembly overview > < Renewing bonded rubber bush for wheel bearing housing
Removing and installing wheel bearing/wheel hub unit

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
  W00-0428
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1410-
Removal:
–  Remove coil springs → Chapter.
–  Remove drive shaft → Chapter.
–  Detach brake carrier with brake caliper and attach to body using wire → Rep. gr.46.
  Note
Do not leave the brake clip hanging from the hose.
–  Remove bolt for brake disc and remove brake disc.

–  Unscrew bolts -2-.
–  Pull wheel hubs/wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Use new bolt and tighten → Item.
  A42-0468
Specified torques
ComponentTightening torque
Wheel hub with wheel bearing to wheel bearing housing
t  Use new bolt.
70 Nm and then turn 90° further
Brake disc to wheel bearing housing4 Nm
