Installation

–  Apply lubricant → Parts catalogue to the bearing -arrow 1- and the cogs of the pinion -arrow 2-. Grease must not come into contact or be near the sensor!   Caution Never use any other type of lubricant!

The new pinion with steering torque sender -G269- has a clip -arrow-. Do not remove until it has been immobilised with the sender cable. Do not remove the wrapping from the new steering pinion until ready to be fitted. Avoid making contact with the electrical components. –  Observe the general repair instructions → Chapter. –  Fit the pinion on the steering housing.

–  Turn the pinion until the spiral spring locks with the sender cable -arrow-. The mark made on the pinion before removing should coincide with the mark made on the steering casing. –  Fit the sender cable → Chapter.   Note The sender cable must be replaced. It is included in the spare parts set. –  Remove the clip from the spiral spring.

–  Attach the pinion with the new hexagonal nut -arrow-. When unscrewing the nut the rack will move to the limit. –  Fill the hollow of the seal bolt with lubricant → Parts catalogue.

–  Apply sealant → Parts catalogue to the entire thread of the seal bolt -arrow- and fit the seal bolt. –  Fit the sender cable → Chapter.

–  Turn the steering using the adapter -T10304- to centred position. The measurement should be -a- = 28 mm. –  Fit and adjust the pressure part on the pinion side → Chapter.

1)	Replace after each removal

2)	Before fitting, apply LOCTITE -5910- to the thread

–  Install steering box → Chapter. –  Check wheel alignment → Chapter –  Carry out the basic setting of the steering wheel angle sender -G85- using the „Guided fault finding“ of the Vehicle diagnosis testing and information system - VAS 505X-. –  Carry out the basic setting of the steering using the „Guided fault finding“ of the Vehicle diagnosis testing and information system -VAS 505X-.
