| Open the shut off valve of the tester. |

| Remove the pincers for the hoses -U-30042- from the suction tube. |

| Start the engine and, if necessary, add more liquid to the deposit. |

| Close the shut off valve when the engine is idling (not more than five seconds), read the pressure. |
Petrol engine: 68....76 bar. |
Diesel engine: 85....95 bar. |

| If they are not reached, or exceeded, change the hydraulic pump → Chapterfor the power steering. |

| If there is a shortage of liquid in the reservoir, the steering system should always be checked for leaks |

| If the steering knuckle shows a leak, then the hoses and connections must be checked and, if necessary tightened again and cleaned until dry. |

| If there were leaks in the sealing ring of the steering knuckle or in the join of the steering rack on the steering casing, the steering box must be replaced → Chapter, removing and fitting the power steering box |

| To check the seal of the steering rack, the hook of the dust guard must be opened and moved to one side. |
