Safety precautions when working on airbags
l  The checking, assembly and repair work should only be carried out by trained specialist personnel.
l  When working on the airbag system, the battery earth cable must be disconnected. After disconnecting the battery, there is no need to wait to begin work. When connecting the airbag to a power supply, nobody should be inside the vehicle.
l  Before touching the airbag unit, the mechanic must release any electrostatic discharge by making contact with a grounded metal part (e.g. a drain pipe, a heating pipe or a metal beam).
l  The airbag units should be fitted as soon as they are removed from their packing box
l  If work has to be stopped, the airbag unit should be replaced in its box again
l  The airbag unit must not be left lying around unsupervised
l  Dismantled airbag units should be kept with their padded surface facing upwards
l  Airbag units that have fallen on a hard surface or show signs of damage cannot be refitted
l  Storage and transport must be done as specified in the law governing explosive materials
l  Only use original upholstering fabric certified for side impact airbags (indicated on the airbag)
l  On fitting the seat back upholstery, make sure that the seam in the side airbag area is straight
l  All reference clips must be renewed
l  Use only original reference clip.
l  If the fabric in the side impact airbag area is damaged (torn, burnt, etc.), the upholstery should be replaced for greater safety
