Aligning axle beam to vehicle Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1576-

–  Bolt struts to longitudinal member if they had been removed. 1 -  Bolts on longitudinal member → Chapter. –  Fit axle beam to vehicle.

–  Screw bolts in loosely. Do not yet tighten bolts -1- and -2-. Aligning axle beam transversally

–  Calculate distance between axle beam and inside of sill. Gap -arrow- must be same on left and right-hand sides. Aligning axle beam longitudinally

–  Measure dimension -a-. Dimension -a-: 700 mm. –  Tighten axle beam bolts.

Specified torques

Bolt	Specified torque
Bolt to longitudinal member t  Use new bolt	170 Nm
Bolt to body t  Use new bolt	260 Nm
